2016 Duck Derby

Picnic in the Park & Duck Derby raise $5,800 for Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation

The Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation's 2nd Annual Picnic in the Park was held May 7. What a beautiful and fun day at the Granite City Walking Trail Park! It was great to see so many families there with children and grandchildren visiting with family and friends in and around the Rotary Pavilion. Bubba Burgers and hot dogs were grilled and available for sale. The crowd enjoyed listening to music performed by our local musicians Clay Page and Jeff Ledbetter along with special guest Ella Long. They sang underneath a tent beside the banks of the creek. Games for children were very popular and included sack races, three-legged race, hula hoop, and egg toss contests.

Many people participated in the Corn Hole Tournament, and the winners were Kevin Blackmon and Denny Seymour.

The crowd waited with anticipation as the Second Annual Duck Derby began. With the help of the Elberton City Fire Department, 750 sold ducks were released into the creek. Within six minutes, the first three ducks crossed the finish line.
