2017 Jack Frost Jump

6th Annual Jack Frost Jump a success

Ed Lovin and the JROTC from the Elbert County Comprehensive High School once again had the largest number of participants and won a $50 gift certificate from Papa's Pizza-To-Go.

The Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation's 6th Annual Jack Frost Jump was held on a cool and wet Saturday morning, Jan. 21, at Lake Richard B. Russell State Park beach area. This event honors the life and memory of Donna Lee Blackmon Seymour, who enthusiastically led the first two Jack Frost Jumps.

Foundation Chair Chris Smith said, "It was great to see so many young people join in the fun this year. It was especially exciting to see Elbert County Middle and High School students, representing clubs within their schools, enthusiastically run into the chilly waters of Lake Russell. We estimated about 100 people ran into the chilly waters and approximately 100 people watched from the beach area."

Smith said, "We wish to especially thank the Richard B. Russell State Park staff, the Department of Natural Resources, the Elbert County Emergency Management Services, and the Elbert County Sheriff's Office for their support and presence Saturday morning."

We wish to thank our many sponsors and friends who supported this event: Ronnie & Lynn Blackmon, Brayco, Pinnacle Bank, Baston Monuments, Inc., Berry Funeral Home, Brady Builders, Inc., Drs. Joe and Eddie Campbell, Robert and Ann Davis, Elbert County EMS, Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton Federal Savings & Loan Association, Elbert Insurance Associates, Inc., Elite Stone Solutions, Inc, Innovative Therapy Concepts, Lake Russell Building Supply, Miles Supply, Skeeter's Designs, SLABCO, Star Granite Company Inc., The Medical Center of Elberton, Turner Concrete, Inc., Waste Away and WSGC Radio.
